Ratha Saptami, often known as Magha Saptami, is a Hindu pageant celebrated on the seventh day of the brilliant fortnight of the Magha month (January-February). It marks the day when the solar god Surya begins his northward journey after the winter solstice. On this present day, devotees worship Surya and provide prayers for good well being, prosperity, and success.
Ratha Saptami holds nice significance in Hindu mythology. It’s believed that on this present day, Surya rides a chariot pushed by seven horses, representing the seven colours of the rainbow. The pageant can also be related to the legend of Karna, a terrific warrior from the epic Mahabharata, who was identified for his devotion to Surya. Karna is alleged to have been born on Ratha Saptami, and he’s usually worshipped on this present day.
