The Citi Open, also called the Washington Open, is an annual tennis event held in Washington, D.C., United States. The event is part of the ATP Tour 500 sequence on the Affiliation of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tour and the WTA 250 sequence on the Ladies’s Tennis Affiliation (WTA) tour.
The Citi Open was first held in 1969 as a males’s-only event and was often known as the Washington Star Worldwide. The event was renamed the Legg Mason Tennis Traditional in 1999 and the Citi Open in 2012. The ladies’s event was added in 2012.
